Tottenham will be looking to take inspiration from London rivals Chelsea on Wednesday night as they attempt to turn around a 1-0 deficit against Milan in the Champions League round of 16.

Brahim Diaz’s early strike separated the two sides in Milan, but the Rossoneri left the first leg knowing they could have put the tie to bed on home soil. They could come to rue missed opportunities in the second half against a vulnerable Lilywhites.

Inconsistency has plagued Spurs this season, so supporters will be hopeful that in the wake of back-to-back defeats, Antonio Conte’s side will show up in N17 for this huge European clash.

Conte has been absent from the touchline since the first leg after undergoing gallbladder surgery, but the Italian has since returned to north London ahead of Wednesday’s second leg.

Eric Dier picked up a harsh yellow card in the first leg and is suspended for Milan’s visit. However, Conte will welcome Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg to the fold after he missed the reverse fixture through suspension.

Spurs have no fresh injury concerns heading into Wednesday’s second leg. Midfielders Rodrigo Bentancur (knee) and Yves Bissouma (ankle) are still missing, as are Hugo Lloris (knee) and Ryan Sessegnon (thigh).

Conte initially missed just one game after undergoing surgery before returning to the touchline for Spurs’ defeats against Leicester and Milan in mid-February. However, it was then decided that the Italian would take more time off and he’s subsequently missed the last four games.

The Italian is back in action now, though, and ready to return to the touchline for the first time since 14 February. Conte took training and resumed media duties ahead of Wednesday’s game. Fans will hope the big man’s return inspires the Lilywhites over the line.
